Looking After Your Pieces

The Care Guide

Solid wood is a living material — it breathes, settles and gains character with age. With a few simple rituals, your Wood Boss furniture will not merely survive the decades; it will grow more beautiful through them. Here is everything you need to know.

The Essentials

Six rituals for lasting lustre

Build these into your routine and your furniture will thank you for a lifetime.

01

Dust Regularly

Use a soft, dry microfibre cloth weekly. Avoid feather dusters that can scratch.

02

Avoid Direct Sun & Heat

Position away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent fading and warping.

03

Polish Twice a Year

Apply a beeswax or recommended wood polish to nourish the grain and revive lustre.

04

Wipe Spills Immediately

Blot — never rub — spills with a slightly damp cloth, then dry at once.

05

Use Coasters & Mats

Protect surfaces from hot dishes, glasses and sharp objects.

06

Maintain Humidity

Solid wood prefers 40–60% humidity. Use a humidifier in very dry rooms.

Quick Reference

Do’s & Don’ts

Do

  • Dust weekly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth
  • Use coasters, placemats and felt pads under objects
  • Polish with beeswax or a recommended wood polish twice a year
  • Lift furniture to move it — never drag it
  • Maintain room humidity between 40–60%

Don’t

  • Place furniture in direct sunlight or beside heat sources
  • Use all-purpose sprays, ammonia or silicone polishes
  • Let spills sit — they stain and swell the grain
  • Rest hot dishes directly on the surface
  • Use abrasive pads or paper towels that scratch

Through the Year

Seasonal care

Wood responds to the air around it. A little awareness with the seasons goes a long way.

Summer & Dry Heat

In hot, dry months wood can lose moisture and contract slightly, occasionally showing fine seasonal lines. Keep pieces away from direct sun and air-conditioning vents, and run a humidifier if your rooms feel parched. A light polish before peak summer helps seal in moisture.

Monsoon & Humidity

Damp air can cause wood to expand and drawers to feel snug. Keep rooms ventilated, wipe away condensation promptly, and use a dehumidifier in very humid spells. Avoid pushing furniture flush against exterior walls so air can circulate behind it.
